Antique Solid Silver Trinket Box 1912-13, Birmingham
For Auction is
a Solid Silver Trinket Box with very nice machine turning and
pink/lavender enameling on the lid. Hallmark is a Birmingham mark from
1912 to 1913. Makers mark appears to be H&Co in vertical ovals,
which may be Hayes & Co and ties in nicely with the date and style.
The
pictures comprise part of the description so please study well. The
wooden box on which it stands in the photographs is NOT included.
Height: approx 37mm
Diameter: approx 72mm (lid)
Weight: approx 112 grams
Construction is solid silver with the machine turned and enameled insert in the lid, there is no lining.
Excellent
size makes it a very practical bedside or dresser trinket box for
rings, earrings, cufflinks, and finer necklaces , bracelets etc.
Hinge
works well but there is a split as seen in the pictures, and lid opens
and closes freely, but does not sit flat, there is a slight wobble to
the four feet.
As
you would expect from a practical piece that is nearly 100 years old
there are signs of use, wear and character, there is some fading to the
edge of the enamel . However the overall condition of the surfaces is
very good with no major dents or dings.
