RARE GEORGIAN/ANTIQUE SOLID STERLING SILVER FRENCH TRINKET/SNUFF BOX~REPOUSSE~

Up for auction is a very large and beautiful box that is made out of solid silver with a lovely repousse (raised) design on the top and all of the sides. It could be used to hold pens/pencils, makeup brushes, carry in your briefcase, etc.

I have researched the marks on this box and this is what I found (please feel free to email me if I am not correct - French marks can be tricky).

The mark to the left is an A which is the French "charge" mark. Shown in Tardy's Hallmarks as 1756/1762. The middle mark (MCX with a cat) is a community mark for Meaux with Paris having jurisdiction over them. It is a mark from 1778. The mark on the right is a rams' head I believe...perhaps a maker mark?
